Depending on your knowledge of computers, you may think that computers are scary. What if I push the wrong button... I'm gonna break it... The first thing you have to know is that you can't 'break' your computer (Unless you set your drink down too hard in the cup holder...). Computers have very few moving parts. It's pretty rare that the dilithium crystals interrupt the fusion reactor to placate the mother ship... However, most problems occur these days due to viruses and the Trojans du jour. The worst thing that could happen is that you loose your data. So...

This is probably one of the most common problems. Usually people only lose everything once. Why not back up your data now? We suggest having one folder for all your really important stuff. That way if you ever have to recover / retrieve your data, at least we can find it quickly, therefore saving you money. As well, if you save periodic backups of your important information to a CD Writer, you only have to copy one directory. CD Writers are really cheap now, and they could be one of the best business investments you can make. See Price Is Right Computers for current pricing.

There is no point in having Norton on your computer if it is out of date. There are some really good free anti-virus software for download, or online virus detection. AVG Free is an excellent choice. (Don't uninstall Norton, just turn it off.)

If you have ever clicked on a pop-up from a website, then you may be infected by spyware. The more spyware you have on your computer, the slower your machine will be. People can be surprised how much faster a clean machine will run. They remember how fast it was when they bought it! Spybot Search and Destroy is a great Anti-spyware program.

For more information on threats, read the Anti-Spyware Guide.
